“We are going to raise concern about the different acts of insecurity that are being experienced in schools in different towns in the province. Hopefully it will be a fruitful meeting, where we can find channels for dialogue, but also concrete actions that will channel this situation “, Rodrigo Alonso, general secretary of provincial Amsafe, told this medium.
The unions had requested a meeting with the Ministry of Security after the acts of violence at the José Mármol and Rosa Ziperovich schools in Rosario, which occurred on Saturday, April 8. In both establishments, shots were recorded and notes were found that were not addressed to the institutions, which led the unions to suspect that the schools are being used as “messengers” by the attackers.
These episodes, added to the murder of the 12-year-old boy Máximo Jerez in a shootout, generated a mobilization of the educational communities towards the seat of government, demanding greater security in the schools.
Alonso explained that the acts of violence against schools transcend those that took place in the southern province: “It is clear that the acts of shooting in the city of Rosario are of great concern, but there are also acts of violence in the department of Constitution, of San Lorenzo, of the Capital, of General Obrigado, of San Cristóbal We are seeing a series of difficulties that are extremely worrying, because the health and safety of workers in education and the entire educational community.
“We want to raise this concern and demand a response from the State. We believe that the response has to be with a comprehensive look. The school must be a territory of peace, our message is going to be that. But to achieve peace it is clear that it has to There must be a series of actions in the State to fairly guarantee the health and safety of the entire educational community,” added the union leader.
