Mega TV cancels journalist Oscar Haza's program

MIAMI.- After 11 years of transmission, the program Now with Oscar Haza was surprisingly canceled MegaTV. The information was confirmed by several media.

“The renowned Dominican journalist Oscar Haza left the Mega TV screens unexpectedly when the directors of the channel, based in Miami, canceled his program Now with Oscar Hazawhich occupied prime time for 11 years, addressing the issue of Cuba on multiple occasions,” he noted. Cuban Newspaper.

According to the newspaper, the program’s production received a contract termination letter on June 7. However, it is unknown what was the reason that led Mega TV to not renew the season.

“The reasons behind the end of Now with Oscar Haza have not been revealed. Mega TV, which in February 2023 announced a sale agreement for $64 million to the Texan group Voz Media, canceled said agreement in September of the same year,” Periódico Cubano detailed, indicating that now prime time, from 8:00 a.m.: 00 pm, is occupied by the program hosted by the Uruguayan journalist Pedro Sevcec.

Oscar Haza’s career

Oscar Haza has become a reference within the Spanish-language media in the United States. He was awarded the Cervantes Prize, awarded by Nova University for his work in the dissemination of Spanish in the US media. In this sense, the Dominican has valued the role of the media as guarantors of Hispanicity in this country.

“It is essential to keep alive and present the cultural wealth that we have come to contribute to the United States, because the United States is a sum of countries, and within that sum is the amount of contribution of us Hispanics, not only in terms of to the language, but in terms of customs, our cuisine, music, literature, different forms of expression,” declared Oscar Haza in an interview with DIARIO LAS AMÉRICAS.
