It is not obvious that the new radar reconnaissance aircraft S106, or Globaleye, will be placed at Malmen outside Linköping. The Air Force has been investigating the issue for just over a year. The Social Democrats announced in a press release on Friday that they are now demanding an answer from the Minister of Defense on the question of what will be the basis for the decision.

– Today the radar reconnaissance flight is located at Malmen in Linköping. The proximity to Saab, which is involved in developing these capabilities, makes it a logical location. Moving the flight from Malmen would be deeply unfortunate, says Johan Andersson (S) in a press release. He is a Member of Parliament for Östergötland and sits on the defense committee.

Today, the operation is part of Skaraborg’s F7 aviation fleet, but is located at Malmen in Linköping, where the helicopter flotilla is also located.
