A new construction project in the city of Santa Ana is causing concern to dozens of merchants, as it could dramatically affect their business.
This time it is about more construction around 4th street and according to the affected merchants it is very common for the city’s public works to continue closing traffic circulation.
The merchants say that the new project of the city that could put the economy of their establishments at risk.
The city’s notification was given through a brochure, explaining that improvements will be made to the drainage network on 3rd Street from Main to French Street.
The installation of a stormwater drainage system in a parking lot located on Calle 3, the paving and reconstruction of a parking lot, and the placement of plants and pots in the area, is part of the project that will last from July 2023 to April 2024.
“We see that the situation is not improving, now with so many projects around, the streets are still closed, people prefer to go to other places because it gives them work to get here,” said Marcela Prado Rodríguez, business owner.
Dozens of business owners are concerned about the extension of the closure of Calle 4.
“It is very worrying for me because a few months ago we were also bad. With a street being closed, it completely affects us because we don’t have customers, and if we don’t sell, we don’t have rent,” added Ana María León, business owner.
It should be remembered that dozens of these businesses suffered during the pandemic, then due to the construction of tracks for a tram that lasted several months, and now this other city project that has sparked the concern of more than 80 business owners.
Telemundo 52 tried to speak with the city administration about the project, but has not received a response so far.
