Star rendezvous in New York: Celebrities from the world of fashion, music and sports flocked to the Met Gala on Monday evening at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The motto of the evening was the tribute to the fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019, and the choice of clothes for the female stars was corresponding.
Actress Nicole Kidman appeared in a Chanel dress she wore in a promotional shoot for perfume number 5 almost 20 years ago. “I’m so glad I can still wear it,” she told AFP. Singer Dua Lipa wore a cream creation (cover photo) that Lagerfeld created for Chanel in the 1990s.
Serena Williams pregnant for the second time
Serena Williams announced her second pregnancy at the Met Gala. The 23-time Grand Slam winner posted photos of her husband and herself in their gala outfit to Instagram on Monday (local time) and wrote, “I was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the three of us to the Met Gala. “
In some of the photos she has also positioned her hands in such a way that they emphasize her baby bump under the black dress. “There are three of us here, our newcomer,” Williams said. “I’m doing well. I can breathe and stop hiding.”
Williams, who ended her tennis career last year, has had a daughter since 2017. Other guests at the exclusive event included actress Penélope Cruz, singer Rita Ora, former tennis champion Roger Federer and models Giesele Bundchen, Cara Delevingne and Kate Moss.
Self-invited guests will have to pay $50,000 for dinner, up from $35,000 in 2022. A seat at a patron-sponsored table will cost at least $300,000.
The Met Gala is traditionally held on the first Monday in May. The proceeds benefit the museum’s fashion department, which dedicates its annual exhibition to the German fashion designer with the gray braid and dark glasses.
