– These are mother-of-pearl clouds and it is quite unusual for them to be seen this far south in the country. More common in the north, says Jannicke Geitskaret, meteorologist at SVT.
Mother-of-pearl clouds are usually seen at dawn or dusk and usually far north and during winter.
– They form at 20-30 km height in the atmosphere and it needs to be below minus 75 degrees. Then the air at a lower altitude must also be clear and clean for the clouds to be visible with their beautiful colors.
