And not even with the works that have been carried out recently. According to members of the National Union of Workers of the Metro Collective Transportation System (SNTSTC), Line 9 must suspend service at the Pantitlán station before “something” happens.

Like what? Well, in the words that the workers of the collective left in the statement warning of the situation, it is said that in the Pantitlán station on Line 9 (the brown one, for more reference) “there is a latent risk of a derailment in any moment”.

Said risk, according to the statement quoted by various media and addressed to the general management of the Metro, is due not only to the problem of the structures that has already been denounced for some timeor (even The country revealed alarming observations made by the Institute for Construction Safety of CDMX), but talso to what “The track devices are deteriorated and there is no possibility of repairing them due to the lack of spare parts”.

For the above, “The SNTSTC proposes as a security measure (…) the suspension of the service of the Pantitlán terminal of Line 9.”

It is not the first time that members of the Metro union point out the problem. In a text released at the end of last Marchit was indicated that, despite the fact that the authorities have carried out works responding to reports of problems on lines 1, 5 and 9, in the latter the work was carried out without taking into account the opinion of expert workers in the matter…and unfortunately, there were bugs.

It does not consider a comprehensive solution to the existing structural problems”warned the Metro union at the time, in reference to the temporary propping up of the girder system at the entrance to the Pantitlán station on Line 9… and, apparently, little attention has been paid.

In the new statement, it is criticized once again that the work carried out by the Secretariat of Works and an external company at the Line 9 station (specifically in the clearing of the drawer where Line 5 is located), is executed wrongly and will end up canceling a train track…with the risk that, when a fault occurs in the track change devices, the entrance and exit of the trains will be blocked, which will lead to the suspension of the service.

Well, there’s the notice. From this one, the Metro union expects the authorities to offer “a convincing and safe technical answer”… and, above all, that the problems that they have been denouncing for a long time are solved.
