The Miami police will redouble surveillance in shopping centers starting this Saturday to guarantee safety during the Christmas shopping season.

Álvaro Zabaleta, spokesman for the Miami-Dade police, said that surveillance in shopping centers will be intensified during the days of Black Friday and will extend until the end of the year, reported America TeVé.

The initiative promotes the motto: “If you see something, say something”, a call to the population to report any suspicious activity when making purchases.

Starting this Saturday, officers will be in the facilities and parking lots to prevent crimes and take care of shoppers and prevent massive store robberies like those recently reported in California, he explained.

The operation will be carried out during the hours established by the stores, he explained.

Zabaleta added that there will also be undercover police officers in the establishments who will be part of these operations.

Likewise, he recommended that users of shopping centers be careful when locking their vehicles, not walking in the mall with dollars but prioritizing the use of credit cards, and walking while keeping their wallet close to their body.

Amid the rising cost of living in the United States, several people have said that thieves from New York could move to Miami to continue their misdeeds.

A week ago the Miami police also said that they were looking for two thieves who stole equipment valued at more than $30,000 from a photography store in Palmetto Bay.

On November 2, through surveillance video, the owner of the Pitman Photo store saw the exact moment in which the thieves arrived at the location in a sedan model car and, after getting out, used a hammer to hit the front door. and the window of the establishment, according to a report by América TeVé.

It took them 20 minutes to break the hurricane-resistant glass and, after making a hole that allowed them to reach and open the door, they entered the premises.
