Microsoft did a good job with Bing and the support of ChatGPT, which triggered a red alert at Google. The Redmond-based company is accordingly confident and does not shy away from taking a direct confrontational course with the Google AI Bard.

Microsoft Bing suddenly landed on the radar of many users thanks to the support of ChatGPT and the Redmond company managed to become a relevant or more relevant force in the search engine market almost overnight. This caused something like a panic at Google. As a result, the Californians accelerated the development and release of Bard – perhaps even too much, because the Google AI was not really convincing at the presentation.

“Compare Bing to Bard”

Microsoft is now apparently so confident that it is far ahead of Google that it is explicitly asking users to compare the two services. Because all those users who call up the Google Bard page via Microsoft Edge receive a text in the browser’s address bar that tells them: “Compare the answers with the AI-supported new Bing.”

This display was discovered by Twitter user Vitor de Lucca. According to de Lucca, this notice appeared in the dev version of the Microsoft browser, Windows Central but says it’s quite likely that it will be distributed for all editions of Edge. Because the Redmond company often tests such features with a subgroup of users who use both Edge Dev and Edge Canary.

However, this cannot be tested in general at the moment, as this requires access to Bard, but the Google AI is in a preview phase that is not generally available. This tactic is not new for Microsoft, especially with regard to Google. Because in the past people have repeatedly pointed the finger at Google and run (too) aggressive campaigns against the search engine giant.

Summary

  • Microsoft Bing more relevant in the search engine market thanks to ChatGPT.
  • Google reacts with Bard, Microsoft asks users to compare.
  • Microsoft Edge shows users a hint to compare Bing with Bard.
  • Google AI bard still in the preview phase, comparison not possible for everyone.
