Sony has continuously said that Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard will give them an unfair advantage over the remaining competitors in the market, while Microsoft has tried to argue that Sony is the market leader and that the acquisition is an expression of their desire to increase their competitiveness.

At an open meeting with the EU, let Microsoft explain (via GamesIndustry) that during the Christmas sales Sony sold far more Playstation 5 than Microsoft sold Xbox Series S/X where the ratio was 69/31. WCCFTech writes:

“According to Smith, Playstation outsold Xbox by a 69-to-31 ratio this past holiday season. In Europe, the Playstation/Xbox split is 80/20, in Japan it’s 94/6, and globally, if you take Nintendo out of the mix, Sony has a 70 percent share of the market.”

Sony has lobbied for the deal to be stopped altogether, but it is not yet known if that plan will succeed.
