One of the biggest changes in Windows 11 concerns the taskbar, which Microsoft – if you include the start menu – has changed almost fundamentally. This has various advantages, but also disadvantages. Microsoft wants to address the latter and purify the taskbar.

One can undoubtedly discuss Windows 11 and highlight various advantages. But you can also refer to negative points. A lot is certainly a matter of getting used to, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t points that can be optimized.

This includes the taskbar. Because Microsoft has changed a lot there and not everything was well received by the users, also viewed objectively. This certainly included the option of being able to drag and drop certain elements onto the taskbar. The Redmond group addressed this later, but there is still more to do.

See date and time – or not

The personal preferences of the user play a decisive role here. Some have complained that the date and time are not displayed on a second monitor at the bottom right, which Microsoft subsequently changed and implemented. Conversely, there are also users who basically do not need or want such a display and prefer a taskbar that is as minimalist as possible. The Redmond company has now done this, because in the latest Canary Preview build of Windows 11 with the number 23440 it is possible to completely hide the date and time in the taskbar and more precisely in the system tray (via beta news). This can easily be done by right-clicking on the date/time and the customization option that appears there.

This is a small but nice change and should not be the last adjustment of the taskbar. Many users would like the forced grouping to be abolished for a single application. This is also known in Redmond and it has already been made clear that this is actually in the works.
