Migrants in shelters celebrate Thanksgiving dinner

Thursday was a special day for many asylum seekers who are in the city’s reception centers as they were able to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner.

Those in charge of NYC Health and Hospitals and their collaborators, the companies Rethink and the Beatstro restaurant, joined together to prepare more than 20 thousand meals for the celebration in 16 humanitarian centers.

Dinner guests were grateful for the help they have always received and for being able to enjoy their first Thanksgiving.

“First of all, give thanks for the food, for my children, for the entry I have here… the support,” said an immigrant.

At a facility on the Upper East Side, about 1,500 plates of food were distributed.
