These statements by Adorni come after hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated in Buenos Aires in favor of the public university and against the lack of financing of these centers by the Argentine Government.
In this regard, Adorni criticized that “certain figures” who promoted the demonstration falsely claim that the Executive intends to close public education centers. “Let us clarify a thousand times that we are going to defend education in general, and public education in particular, like no one else,” she said.
“We must also understand that only quality public education is sustainable on the path we are traveling: the balance of accounts and the audits that we believe are appropriate in order to understand a little about the funds that are being used and those that are not,” Adorni added.
Despite everything, the presidential spokesperson expressed the respect of the Executive to all those who demonstrated, and in fact expressed the “congratulations” of the Casa Rosada for the fact that the day progressed “in peace, without violence” and “without any type of public disorder, beyond what is typical of a mobilization of this amount of people”.
The demonstration in Buenos Aires was attended by opposition political parties, unions and social organizations, including their leaders and senior officials, and ended in the Plaza de Mayo, in front of the Casa Rosada, headquarters of the Government. With these demonstrations, part of the Argentine population tries to protest the lack of financing of public education by the Milei Government, which on previous occasions has said that public universities “indoctrinate” and has questioned the transparency of the accounts of these institutions.
