Miss Universe remembers Cheslie Kryst and celebrates the publication of her book

MIAMI.- Two years have passed since the unfortunate departure of the model American Cheslie Kryst, who held the title of Miss USA and maintained a silent battle against depression. The 30-year-old model, originally from North Carolina, committed suicide on the morning of January 30, 2022. Authorities reported that Cheslie jumped from the 29th floor of a skyscraper in New York.

His mother was a guest on Jada Prinkett Smith’s show Red Table Talk, where he shared the last message that Cheslie sent him.

“I was going to call her on the way home and when I looked at my phone I noticed there was a text message from her. The first thing she wrote was, ‘First, I’m sorry. By the time you get this I won’t be alive anymore. And it makes me even sadder to write this because I know it’s what’s going to hurt you the most,'” April said.

Forefront Books explained that the book was written in two parts: the first by Cheslie Kryst, where she shares her story and her perseverance to achieve success; while the second half is by Simpkins, who continued with a heartfelt narration from her perspective, which begins from the day of her daughter’s death.

On her social networks, April also shared a message to remember her.

“Thank you for trusting me with your last wishes, now they have all come true. Your book will save lives. Rest in peace my sweet baby. I will love you forever.”
