The Labor Mobility program, executed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, allows a contingent of Salvadoran workers to travel to the states of Florida and South Carolina this Wednesday, February 15, where they will work temporarily in various companies.

Before leaving for the United States, the beneficiaries received a talk where the topics discussed were related to labor rights, US legislation, interculturality, and support from consulates; likewise, the travel process was explained to them, and they also received a folder with the necessary documentation to their labors.

“We will see them again in December so they can tell us about their experiences and there will also be a team that will monitor them and ensure that they are in optimal conditions. Salvadoran labor in the United States is highly valued,” said the Vice Minister of Diaspora and Human Mobility, Cindy Portal.

This is a program that came to the Foreign Ministry in 2021 to offer the opportunity for regular circular migration. On this occasion there are 46 Salvadorans who will travel. In total, from January to December 2022, there are 3,171 beneficiaries of the Labor Mobility program.

The official stressed that they are looking for people who are upright so that this program reaches more families. “We are training them in financial education, so that people can have access to remittances for investment and not for consumption,” emphasized Vice Minister Portal.

The tasks that these Salvadorans are going to develop are in the areas of maintenance, hotel cleaning and kitchen assistants. The Government of President Bukele is betting on improving the quality of life of families by providing mobility abroad in a safe, orderly, regular and circular manner.
