The border police services of Ahmed Ben Bella International Airport in Oran have performed a record seizure of more than 1 million euros and more than 14 thousand pounds in the possession of a passenger who was heading abroad.

This operation is considered the largest carried out in Algerian airports. According to an Arabic-language media, this information was communicated by the media cell of the security interests of the wilaya of Oran.

This seizure comes after the confiscation of 400,000 euros last July at the same airport, in a bag found aboard the bus transporting passengers to the plane.

Abane Ramdane Airport to Bejaia had also been the scene of a seizure a few months earlier. Indeed, on Saturday April 15, a new attempt to illicitly transfer currency was foiled. The customs elements had succeeded in seizing a large sum of currency estimated at 25 350 euros on a passenger.

Dismantling of a network manufacturing ecstasy pills for children in Oran

The authorities of the wilaya of Oran had announced the dismantling of a network of trafficking in ecstasy tablets intended for children.

The 5 members of the group were arrested and brought to justice after being apprehended by the special brigade. Investigators suspect the existence ofan accomplice abroad who helped the network to source raw materials for the production of psychotropics.

The stamps in the form of sweets were produced in a laboratory in Maghnia, in the wilaya of Tlemcen, under the cover of a cake-making workshop. The suspects managed to producee several kilos of drugs thanks to this ruse.
