Mexico City.- The coordinator of the deputies of Morena, Ignacio Mier, warned that after the approval of the electoral reform in the Senate of the Republic concludes this Wednesday, they will begin the analysis of the attributions and faculties of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judiciary of the Federation ( TEPJF).
Mier recalled that a working group in charge of reviewing the powers granted by the Constitution and secondary laws to the Court is being formed.
The morenista reported that the working group will also analyze the sentences issued to determine how they have been invading beyond the powers established by law.
“The work team is being integrated so that they participate and a thorough review is carried out, not only of the legal framework that regulates it, but already of these 20 years, the first sentences that were issued and that were invading beyond the powers that established by law and the Constitution,” he said.
The parliamentary coordinator said that they expect this analysis to be ready within 10 days.
He added that based on this information they will promote legal reforms whose objective will be to clearly establish the powers of the Electoral Tribunal.
“That will be later, it has nothing to do with what is currently being processed, as regards the renewal of the Institute’s directors,” he said.
On several occasions, Mier has criticized the TEPJF. On January 19, he accused the Magistrates of having turned that institution into a “caricature”, in response to the ruling that prohibited the use of “Amlitos”.
“It’s ridiculous!”, he said in a conference in the Chamber of Deputies, while holding some “Amlitos” in his hands.
On February 8, the Morenista accused the Court of having an “attitude of harassment” towards the Legislative Power, after the electoral magistrates refused to meet in San Lázaro with the Political Coordination Board to discuss the terms in which they had to comply with the sentence that instructed to modify the call for the election of electoral advisers.
