Mother of two deceased twins will face charges

The uniformed officer will file criminal charges against the mother of the five-year-old twins who died on December 18 of last year in the Bronx.

Police Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said Gloria Asamoah is currently in a psychiatric ward and will be taken into police custody once doctors clear her.

According to police, she will face multiple felony charges, including two counts of murder.

The arrest warrant comes nearly a month after the city medical examiner’s office ruled the brothers’ deaths a homicide by asphyxiation.

Police had originally said that no foul play was suspected after the distraught mother called 911 at 11 a.m. on Dec. 18 to report that her children, Gianna and George Kantanka, were not breathing.

Kenny maintains that the twins were found foaming at the mouth and nose at the time of their discovery.
