North Rhine-Westphalia commemorates the earthquake victims on Friday (February 10) with mourning flags and a minute’s silence in Turkey and Syria.

NRW School Minister Dorothee Feller (CDU) asked the headmasters in all of the around 5500 schools in North Rhine-Westphalia on Thursday at eleven o’clock with a minute’s silence to commemorate the victims of the severe earthquake.

There are many family and friendly connections between North Rhine-Westphalia and Turkey in particular, but the Minister emphasized that many people have also come to NRW from Syria in recent years. Westdeutscher Rundfunk had previously reported on the planned minute of silence.
