Muguruza returns to tennis, but now in another role from Saudi Arabia

RIAD-. Garbiñe Muguruzawho recently announced her retirement as a tennis player, will be the new tournament director of the WTA Finals, from 2024 to 26 in Saudi Arabiathe women’s tour announced on Wednesday.

Mugurza, a two-time champion of Grand Slam tournaments, is the first former tennis player to have been in charge of the competition that ends the season. She won this tournament in 2021.

The competition, which is contested between the eight best in the ranking in singles and also between the eight most outstanding pairs, moves to Saudi Arabia for this year. It will take place in Riyadh, from November 2 to 9.

Muguruza defeated Serena Williams to win the French Open in 2016. She beat Venus Williams to claim the Wimbledon title in 2017.

She is the only tennis player to beat both sisters in a Grand Slam final. She became first in the ranking.

The Spanish-Venezuelan last played on the tour in January 2023. In April, she announced that she would not compete again.
