A pair of JBL speakers are now updated with wifi connectivity. It’s about the Boombox 3 and Charge 5, which are now being released in new versions with the “wifi” suffix. The idea is, of course, that you as a user should be able to listen with better sound quality over a wireless network instead of being forced to use the inferior bluetooth when you are at home.

Speaking of bluetooth, that connection option is of course still on board. After all, JBL wants you to be able to listen with the best quality regardless of the conditions. The company also emphasizes the built-in self-tuning function, which should optimize the sound image according to the listening environment.

JBL says that the new speakers come with significant upgrades in terms of sound quality, and the Wi-Fi connection in particular provides better conditions for Dolby Atmos sound. Support for Airplay 2, for multiroom music via Alexa and built-in Chromecast add to the speakers’ flexibility.

Battery life is listed at 20 hours for the Charge 5 Wi-Fi and 24 hours for the Boombox 3 Wi-Fi. Both speakers are available for purchase from mid-May. Charge 5 costs SEK 2,700 and Boombox 3 costs SEK 6,500.
