They recorded a tornado in Coahuila

Shortly after 6 in the afternoon, the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) issued an alert for the observation of a rotating cell that could generate the formation of a tornado in the north-northeast of Coahuila.

The Commission explained that between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on May 8, that cell would be moved to the municipalities of Piedras Negras, Nava, Morelos and Allende.

The thing is, it wasn’t the only tornado reported on May 8. The Tornados México account, specialized in monitoring these climatic phenomena, reported at least 4 non-supercell tornadoes in the country: one in Coahuila, Querétaro, Tlaxcala and the State of Mexico.

But what is a non-supercell tornado? Non-supercell tornadoes they are much thinner tornadoes, of shorter duration and with a lower wind intensity. The thing is, according to the UNAMare still just as dangerous because they occur in normally rural areas.

This type of tornado occurs frequently in the north of the country, between Coahuila, Tamaulipas and Nuevo León due to the geographical characteristics and environmental conditions of the area.
