Game news Naughty Dog: the creators of The Last of Us reveal their favorite games of 2022 with hits, but also surprises in the list!

The year 2022 is about to end, after having blessed us with some great video game releases. At the dawn of New Year’s Eve, Naughty Dog shares with us its list of favorite games of 2022. We mostly remember big names, like Elden Ring or God of War Ragnarök, but also some surprises that may have gone unnoticed.

2022, another good year for video games

A few days before the new year, it’s time to look back on 2022 and the video game releases we were entitled to. Major studios have returned to the forefront this year, like FromSoftware with its unstoppable hit Elden Ring. The first open world from the famous Japanese studio will undoubtedly remain the game that will have marked the most players this year.

Alongside Elden Ring, the other major release of 2022 was also God of War: Ragnarok. The sequel to the adventures of Kratos and Atreus won over fans of the god of war, before getting into a fierce duel against Elden Ring at The Game Awards earlier this month. The two titans also won the vast majority of the awards at the ceremony held on December 8.

But 2022 will also have had its share of indie nuggets, such as SIFU, TUNIC, Neon White or straythe cyberpunk title featuring a cute little cat. Excellent games, which have not failed to seduce the video game community, just like the members of the Naughty Dog studio. The creators of The Last of Us and Uncharted have just given us their favorite titles of the year.

Naughty Dog wishes you happy holidays

Various members of the Naughty Dog teams reflected on the games that most “delighted, fascinated and entertained” them throughout 2022. If the vast majority of titles selected by the studio are not really surprising, there are still some unsuspected games in this list. Among the expected games, we obviously find Elden Ring first. Among the “big releases” of the year, the developers also cite Ragnarök, but also Horizon: Forbidden West or Gran Turismo 7.

Quite eclectic, this list also includes titles that are far removed from studio productions and “classic” AAAs, such as Valorant, the competitive FPS from Riot Games. Moreover, we retain the headliners of the independent scene like Stray or SIFU, but also OlliOlli Worlda very nice 2D-3D skateboarding game, or even RollerDromea rather enjoyable mix between rollerblading and shooter.

On the “surprises” side, we note the presence in this list of marvel snapbut also
Signalis, a Survival-horror in pixel art which visibly conquered the studio. Finally, Naughty Dog also quotes very confidential with Blooma one-bit game available only on Playdate, a small portable console. If you haven’t yet gotten your hands on a final game to end the year, then this list should help you. The studio concluded by wishing everyone in the industry, from developers to gamers, happy holidays with the following message:
