Queretaro, Qro. The relocation of suppliers (nearshoring) will encourage the demand for transportation services, a phenomenon that is already beginning to be reflected in the national logistics industry, but which is expected to be more evident in the medium term.

The president of the National Chamber of Cargo Transportation (kanacar), in Querétaro, Miguel Ángel Bres García, argued that in the regions North and Shallows It will be where this behavior is observed the most, as it is two important hubs for the automotive industry and, at the same time, one of the industrial branches with extensive relocation opportunities.

“I think there are two large automotive poles in the country, in the North and in the Bajío. (For him nearshoringLet’s say that the most important target is the automotive industry and of course the Bajío and the north are the big winners in this, now the northerners beat us with Tesla, but big investments are coming in the Bajío area, a lot of the automotive industry is coming, large suppliers of the automotive industry are putting themselves here in Querétaro”, he declared.

In the same way, opportunities are foreseen for the aerospace industry, which has an important production base in the state.

The relocation of suppliers -he pointed out- is already beginning to be elucidated in the requirements of the logistics industry, but it is estimated that it will be stronger in the future, when investment projects are completed that could move from Asia to regions such as Mexico, close to the supply market. North America.

“It is already beginning to reflect (the nearshoring in the requirements). It will be in the medium term that we already have much more conclusive data, but many Asian companies are already investing here in our country and it is not overnight, but it will be felt in a significant way where I think we will be recovering the position that Mexico deserves due to its geographical location”, he estimated.

The state leader of kanacar he trusted that he nearshoring be a great opportunity for Mexico to reactivate its economy, contributing to the national economic recovery, but also to that of the logistics sector.

The establishment of new production centers will entail, he mentioned, the need to mobilize the merchandise that is now generated in the country, promoting mobility both for the North, Central and South of Mexico.

“These plants were already in Mexico and went to Asia, now that they are coming back it is great news, we have to take advantage of it. It is a window of opportunity that as industrialists we have to take and yes, without a doubt, as carriers, logistics is again one of the most important points of competitiveness at the country level, because it nearshoring Yes, it is true that he is going to bring plants, but all the products must be moved,” he stated.

During 2022, cargo transportation contributed 3.5% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product; meanwhile, it is estimated that this sector achieved an annual growth of 4.1% in that year, according to data issued by the kanacar.
