A far too mild winter without snow. Unprecedented temperature records on New Year’s Day. Floods and storms in autumn. Nobody can ignore it anymore: temperature and weather extremes are also increasing in our latitudes. Nenzing wants to counteract this and, as far as possible, take appropriate measures: “The climate change adaptation strategy should ensure that our village will remain liveable in the future,” explains Deputy Mayor Herbert Greussing. Together with a working group headed by Marina Fischer, Laura Scherer, Thomas Groß and Edwin Gassner, a checklist is being drawn up that will be used in future community projects – especially in the construction sector. A resolution to this effect was passed unanimously by the municipal council at its most recent meeting. Two strategies in particular are being pursued: climate protection measures to limit the rise in temperature and adaptation measures to ensure quality of life despite the already noticeable consequences of climate change. “Only the combination of these measures is expedient. Because even if we intensify climate protection in the future, the climatic change is no longer reversible. It is also crucial for successful adaptation how severe the climatic changes will be,” the working group explains.

“Our goal is to increase the community’s resilience to the consequences of climate change and thus strengthen it in the long term.” “Build and develop in a climate-friendly manner”. “The possibility of implementation will be examined for all community projects in the future. If a measure cannot be implemented, this must be justified,” reports Deputy Mayor Herbert Greussing that the application was unanimously approved by all the representatives of the municipal council at their last meeting.
