• Mini unveils the world’s first 4-seater electric convertible
  • The British manufacturer on the way to a 100% electric future
  • A limited edition Mini Cooper SE Cabrio… like its autonomy

In the summer of 2022, Mini presented a concept car in New York. A little less than a year later, the manufacturer announced the launch of a small series of its new, 100% electric Cooper SE Cabrio. Remember that the first 100% electric Mini was launched 5 years ago, and that today, according to the manufacturer, one in five Mini vehicles sold in Europe is fully electric.

A small 100% electric convertible at Mini

In terms of looks, this Mini Cooper SE Cabrio takes up the style already proven by Mini Cabrios with internal combustion engines. The dimensions are identical, as is the trunk volume of 160L. For its part, the 135 kW (184 hp) electric motor comes from the BMW Group’s electric mobility competence centers in Dingolfing and Landshut.

The manufacturer promises an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. The hood Mini Yours with Union Jack motif can be opened or closed electrically up to 30 km/h. On the color side, this Mini Cooper SE Cabrio will be offered in Enigmatic Black and White Silver body colors, with door handles, side vents and front and rear light surrounds in Resolute Bronze. “The E logo can be found on the front bumper and at the rear, visually underlining the pleasure of driving without local emissions” explains Mini.

On board, the Mini Cooper SE Cabrio takes over the eDrive services already known on the Mini Cooper SE. These provide the driver with information on current energy consumption, range and tips for an even more efficient driving style.

Mini autonomy… but maximum price!

With his sidego kart“Electric available in a convertible, this Mini Cooper SE Cabrio obviously has something to seduce. However, the autonomy announced by the manufacturer is likely to make more than one curious jump. Indeed, according to the WLTP cycle and its 32.6 kWh battery, the Mini Cooper SE Cabrio would display a range of… only 201 km. Suffice to say that in real conditions, the autonomy will be (significantly) less than 200 km.

From April, this new Mini Cooper SE Cabrio will be offered in Europe and limited to 999 units, with production managed in the Netherlands, alongside the thermal models. The manufacturer has already confirmed that 155 copies are intended for distribution in France.

As for the price, you will have to pay no less than €60,490 to be able to slip behind the wheel of this small zero-emission convertible. All the same…
