Based on the indications of the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, the Secretariats of Energy and Commerce renewed this Wednesday the Fair Prices agreement with the oil sector to stabilize fuel prices over the next four months.

The announcement, presented today by the Secretary of Energy, Flavia Royón, and the Secretary of Commerce, Matías Tombolini, establishes a guideline of 4% per month in the prices of gasoline and diesel from April 15 to August 15.

Through a statement, the Ministry of Commerce reported that this measure seeks to “protect consumers and promote stability in the market.”

In this sense, Tombolini remarked that “the signing of this agreement allows us to give a sign of predictability to consumers, users and companies and, furthermore, it accompanies the road map established by Minister Massa that encourages us to maintain the fiscal balance and take care of the reserves”.

As reported, the main oil companies – YPF, PAE, Raizen (Shell) and Trafigura – signed the agreement.

For her part, the Secretary of Energy highlighted the effort made by companies to accompany the initiative of the State “in order to contain prices and anchor the inflationary expectation so that this does not have an effect on people’s pockets”.

Present at the announcement were Alejandro Cerviño (Manager of External and Government Relations of Raizen Argentina SA), Agustín Agraz (Vice President of Institutional Relations for Downstream Operations of Pan American Energy), Alejandro Fernández (Commercial Vice President of YPF) and Martín Urdapilleta (General Manager of Trafigura).

Fuels: adjustment and operational problems hamper vendors in the interior

While they are closely following the negotiations that the oil companies and the energy authorities have been holding to define the scope of the adjustment that fuel prices will register in April, service station owners remain on alert due to two conflicting situations that affect the operational continuity of the vendors in the provinces that make up the NOA, NEA and Center regions.

In the case of northern service stations, The problem is focused on Refinor -the oil company controlled by YPF and Integra, the holding company managed by José Luis Manzano- due to the quotas and surcharges that apply when delivering fuel and the obstacles that it imposes on firms that want to terminate the contracts current flag with that mark.

Meanwhile, in the case of the provinces of Entre Ríos, Santa Fe and Córdoba; the conflict revolves around CNG and the decision of the companies that sell this fuel to advance the expiration of the provision contracts that expired at the end of April to make way for new agreements between 30% and 40% more expensive.
