Another one of Stephen King’s best-selling books now looks set to end up on the big screen, this time it’s Billy Summers from 2021, and we can tell that there are two big names involved already. Neither DiCaprio nor Abrams hardly needs any further introduction if you say so.
Stephen King is, of course, best known as one of the greatest authors of all time in the horror genre, but Billy Summers, just like Mr. Mercedes, is a detective story where we follow an aging professional killer who has to do one last job before he retires. It was originally intended to be a mini-series of it, but after Warner Bros put rhubarb on the rights, it will then be a film of the whole thing instead. DiCaprio will of course play the title role and Abrams will direct.
The film is still in the early stages of the process so there is no release date at the moment, but if you are a Stephen King fan and are really thirsty to see one of his works made into a film this year, The Boogeyman and Salem’s Lot, among others, will have premiere in 2023.
