Thanks to a new team, the venue is announcing the great return of rock from the start of the next school year. On this occasion, the place adopted a new visual identity to attract the public and the artists.
Seven and a half years after the attack of November 13, 2015, and several months after the arrival of a new team, the Bataclan wants to bring back the public and the artists and find its rock identity, reports The Parisian in its Friday edition.
“We are going to write a new page in its history”, affirms Nicolas Dupeux, the general manager of the room. “We are going to return to the rock spirit of the room, to its tradition of impertinence, freedom, audacity.”
Rock will make a big comeback from next school year. “The rock producers who no longer came, because they felt less in tune with the positioning of the previous teams, are thrilled”, assures Nicolas Dupeux.
New visual identity
To confirm this return, the room will change “the graphic charter, the signage and the logo, in stencil and black mode, with the mention Free spirit since 1865“. “And we started to redo the dressing rooms of the artists in the same spirit”, one specifies.
The Bataclan has also appointed a new director announced as a “child of rock”. “I really want to defend [la salle] and to see it again as before, open as much as possible and festive”, she specifies to the Parisian. The objective is also to bring back the artists who have deserted the place since the attack, adds Nicolas Dupeux:
“There is a bigger job of discussion and persuasion to get them to come back, but there is never any negative feedback after the concerts. And on the spectator side, you notice that time is doing its work. Last year, we filled the room to 85%.”
The new generation has “less apprehension to come”, concludes Nicolas Dupeux: “The young people who are 18 today were 11 years old at the time. They know that something has happened but they don’t haven’t seen the pictures we’ve seen […] In the new generation of artists, this is also the case. 2023 is off to a strong start.”
