Bureaucracy and visa applications have always been a hindrance for tourists wishing to visit Algeria. It is therefore despite a very high tourist potential that the country did not exploit this sector of activity, which is nevertheless very promising. In recent weeks, we have seen an increasing flow of tourists coming to visit Algeria, especially the south of the country. It is within the framework of the promotion of tourism in Algeria that the authorities take the necessary measures. In a press release published by the Ministry of the Interior on its Facebook page, new information relating to the granting of visas to foreigners wishing to visit the south was communicated.
Initially, the ministry informs that the tourists will profit from a visa as of their arrival at the border posts. It should be noted that the duration of the “regularization” visa will correspond to the duration of the tourist trip.
Secondly, the press release discusses the role of tourist agencies in this new procedure. They hold a large part of the responsibility because they are responsible for issuing all the documents to tourists. These documents will allow them to board the plane, within the airport from which they come.
In addition, they are responsible for listing all the data of foreign tourists on a digital platform, in order to design a database.
The launch of the “new visa” for foreign tourists
On Wednesday, December 28, the Ministry of the Interior and the local community announced the establishment of a “new visa” for foreign tourists wishing to discover southern Algeria.
In a press release issued on December 29, 2022, the department of Brahim Merad revealed the new conditions for obtaining the new tourist visa intended for tourists who come specifically to visit the south of the country.
The press release states: “Foreign tourists wishing to visit the south of the country with approved national travel agencies can benefit from a visa directly on their arrival at border posts, in particular in the wilayas of the south (airports and land border crossings)”.
The tourist will therefore be able to receive a “regularization” visa following the various procedures. They will be made by the tourist agencies, which will take care of all the formalities.
