Nick Offerman, the star of episode three of The Last of Us, revealed on the talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live that he hasn’t touched a video game in 25 years and that his last experience with the medium was Banjo-Kazooie. More specifically, he said:
“Then it’s over, and you’re like ‘yes, I won’, and immediately I’m like, ‘what have I done with my life?’. And so I decided I’m never going to do that again – and thankfully, because games have gotten so good, like The Last of Us, that I think I’d be in a basement and I wouldn’t even be going to audition for shows like this.”

Offerman’s interpretation of the character Bill in The Last of Us has been highly praised by critics, so perhaps it was fortunate that he didn’t play it before and got a different take on what Bill would be like. Neither Pedro Pascal nor Bella Ramsey had played The Last of Us to prepare for their roles as Joel and Ellie.
