Nicolas Winding Refn will adapt The Club of Five in series

The filmmaker continues to favor series over films, and tackles a classic of children’s literature.

We can’t stop it anymore. Nicolas Winding Refndirector of Drive et of the saga Pusheris preparing a television adaptation of five club for the BBC and the German channel ZDF. The filmmaker, famous for his strong and ultra-violent visual signature, continues his television conquest, reports Deadline. After Too Old to Die Young for Amazon Prime, then Copenhagen Cowboy for Netflix, he is now tackling an adaptation of the famous series of novels by Enid Blyton. And this amazing project of three (long) 90-minute episodes has already been sold… to TF1 !

Building on their success, the 21 adventure books for children and young adolescents were published in England from 1942 to 1963 and are among the best-selling children’s novels of all time. They have also been adapted twice for the British channel ITV in the past four decades, in addition to having been the subject of five German-language films. The Club of Five follows George (Claudine in the French version), Julian (François), Dick (Michel), Anne (Annie), and their dog Timmy (Dagobert), a band of daring young explorers confronted with adventures that are as perilous as they are mysterious, between danger and camaraderie.
