Good Friday is considered a “quiet holiday”, but the auto poser scene likes to step on the gas on this day. The police want to be more present.

The police in North Rhine-Westphalia are preparing for the so-called Car Friday. Under the motto “Red for Rasers”, increased controls of the autoposer and tuner scene are planned in several cities, for which Good Friday is traditionally the start of the season. “Anyone who is convinced that the road is a racetrack and that the car has to be loud and fast, we’ll pull out of traffic,” announced the head of the Cologne police department for traffic, Frank Wißbaum. “The daring, sometimes highly dangerous actions and driving maneuvers are careless and ruthless.” The police will show no tolerance for speeders and posers.

The police in Recklinghausen want to make targeted checks, especially at relevant meeting points. “We know the meeting points of the scene in the Recklinghausen district and in Bottrop and also the respective access routes,” said police chief Friederike Zurhausen. In the case of illegal tuning, car owners should be aware that, in addition to the penalties, they will also be charged for the reports commissioned by the police and the costs for the towing service. “And that can quickly become very expensive.”

According to the Neuss district police, specially trained officers are on duty on Good Friday, who can quickly identify unauthorized changes to vehicles. A “zero tolerance” policy applies to races. The city of Paderborn issued a general decree for Good Friday that prohibits any meeting of the scene.

In 2022, according to the Ministry of the Interior, the police in North Rhine-Westphalia raised more than 3,600 warning fees during traffic controls on Good Friday and made 1,600 reports of administrative offenses.
