Only two days have passed between the presentation shortly before the start of CES and the release – we are talking about the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti series. Because on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, Nvidia presented the new graphics card in a keynote. It has been available in stores since Thursday, January 5th, 2023 and – according to the current status – is quite readily available. Prices in Germany currently start at 899 euros. This is the price that Nvidia recommended despite not having its own reference design model.
Since many editors were able to test the graphics card before the release, there are already many published tests. We have statistically summarized and analyzed several of them in order to be able to classify the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti in terms of price-performance. Of course, we also look at the technical data of the bolide and will also take a look at cheaper graphics card series, because not everyone is willing or able to spend around 900 euros. GeForce RTX 4070 Ti: technology and history
Nvidia actually wanted to present the new GeForce RTX 4070 Ti to us much earlier, or one could almost say: cheated. Because apparently the RTX 4070 Ti is the graphics card that was originally supposed to come onto the market with the name GeForce RTX 4080 12GB shortly after the release of the “normal” GeForce RTX 4080.

Only the addition in the name with the amount of graphics memory should serve to distinguish it, although the 12GB variant not only has less memory, but also a slimmed-down GPU. This would have caused confusion, especially for users who are not constantly involved with the market.
Based on tests of the 16GB version, quite a few would have unknowingly bought the slimmed-down version as a supposed bargain, and many an informed user might have ended up with the wrong graphics card through carelessness. Because Nvidia has now released the graphics card with a delay and the name GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, the portfolio is now transparent.
But what can we say about the technology of the new graphics card from Nvidia in detail? The new generation GPU Ada Lovelace, which is in the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, has been named Nvidia AD-104-400-A1. The GeForce RTX 4080 uses an AD-103-300-A1 with a larger area. Other technical data of the GPUs also differ. The following table shows you the comparison of the three RTX 4000 model series:

We refrain from entering the name of the predecessor graphics card RTX 4070 Ti, because the architectural difference is too big – but it should be said that the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, despite the smaller GPU, is 25 percent better for things like the shader units or RT cores offers more, the clock is even more than 45 percent more.
Only the RAM bandwidth is slightly lower with the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti than with the RTX 3070 Ti. If we look at its big brother GeForce RTX 4080, the latter has over 26 percent more to offer in terms of data such as the shader units, including the RAM bandwidth is larger.
