In this context, last December, the competition for the best almond cake in Greater Paris 2023 took place. The Union of Bakers-Pastrycooks of Greater Paris organizes this event for pastry chefs, but also for bakers wishing to get noticed and succeed in your month of January.

To test these professionals, the juries chose the galette des rois. This iconic cake revives the tradition of Kings Day celebrated by the French, Spaniards, Belgians, Quebecers and Swiss during the first week of January.

For the 35th edition of this competition, 128 professionals are registered to have the juries taste 118 almond galettes. Following numerous tastings, the Syndicate of Bakers and Pastry Chefs of Greater Paris ended up designating five winners.

Akim Bouhadda wins the first prize for the best galette des rois du Grand Paris 2023

Among the latter is Akim Bouhadda. Of Algerian origin, the latter managed to distinguish himself during this competition. Indeed, Akim Bouhadda, and his team, won the first prize for the best galette des rois du Grand Paris 2023.

Representative of the Maison Marquise, Akim is the first North African to win this competition since its creation 35 years ago. At the microphone of Maghreb Voices, this baker of Algerian origin shared his career in this area.

Possessing 20 years of professional experience, notably thanks to busy jobs in the USA, China, London and Saudi Arabia. Thanks to this rather rich career, Akim has managed to launch six bakeries in France and five others in China.

Moreover, to return to his Algerian origins, Akim Bouhadda hopes one day to return to Algeria to launch another bakery in the country of his parents.
