Last night, the Office of the first of the republic, Gabriela de Bukele, inaugurated the Respected Childbirth Week in El Salvador, which, alluding to the celebration, illuminated different buildings and monuments in the country.

“The objective of celebrating this week is to raise awareness among the population, as well as reinforce the practices and services provided by the State so that each mother and her family experience motherhood and the birth process as unique and wonderful experiences,” highlighted the first lady’s office in a statement.

The implementation of the Nacer con Cariño Law made El Salvador the only country in Central America and one of the few in Latin America that has Respectful Childbirth regulations.

Respected childbirth works directly and explicitly with the opinions, needs and emotional evaluations of mothers and the family that is in the process of care for pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium.

On the other hand, this week that will include from May 13 to 19, the office and different institutions will develop various activities to celebrate the theme of respected childbirth. Therefore, the monument to the Savior of the World, the National Palace, the building of the former Presidential House in San Jacinto and the San Miguel National Theater were carried out.

Another of the activities that they will carry out are master talks for doctors, nursing staff, residents and medical students, prenatal education sessions, breastfeeding advice and various games in shopping centers.

To stop this, they scheduled the week as follows: Monday the 15th will be at Metrocentro de San Salvador; on Tuesday the 16th, at the Multiplaza shopping center; on Wednesday the 17th, in La Gran Vía; on Thursday 18, at Metrocentro de Santa Ana, and on Friday 19, at Metrocentro de San Miguel.
