In August last year, Olivia Newton-John (“Grease”) lost her long battle with cancer at the age of 73. But not without putting a smile on her daughter’s face one last time.
Now Chloe Lattanzi (37) told for the first time how the last moments with her mother were.
On the Today show, Chloe reports that Olivia Newton-John had not lost her sense of humor despite her serious illness.
“Just before she lost her ability to speak, she was joking,” recalls the Hollywood actress’s daughter.
The last words to her only child were, “My sunshine.”
Olivia Newton John and her tough battle with cancer
Olivia Newton-John battled the treacherous disease in 1992 and 2013. In 2017, the doctors diagnosed breast cancer again, now with metastases in the spine and the addition: not curable. In September 2018, Newton-John could no longer get up, in 2019 she was able to walk again – on crutches.
“I’m not a doctor, so I won’t advise anyone what to do. Personally, I’m doing without chemotherapy this time, I’ve had radiation therapy,” he explained Newton-John 2019 in the BILD interview their treatment path. When it came to pain therapy, the superstar relied primarily on herbal remedies.
Newton-John: “Cannabis is a big part of my treatment. It’s wonderful and helps on so many levels.”
Her great wish three years before her death: “My dream is to see the end of cancer.”
This was not to be fulfilled, but her loved ones were by Olivia Newton-John’s side until the end.
