Commissioner Lena Odenthal ( Ulrike Folkerts) is visited by her aunt Niki Odenthal (Ursula Werner). The perceptive old lady, former prosecutor with a focus on Nazi crimes, takes a keen interest in her niece’s murder case. Maybe too much…
The case that Odenthal and Johanna Stern ( Lisa Bitter) determine in their eleventh joint mission: Fritz Herrweg, a 95-year-old resident of a retirement home, died in a particularly cruel way. As a result of an insulin overdose, his body went into a state of rest. The home’s doctor, Dr. Roters declares Herrweg dead. The mistake is only noticed in the crematorium, but it is too late because Herrweg was already burned alive. Prime Suspect: Dr. Roters. But Johanna Stern finds the doctor so charming, so attractive, it can’t be. Or?
The deeper the investigations of the two inspectors go, the more potential leads they discover: the roommate of the deceased has nothing good to say about Herrweg, the obscure grandson expresses radical views and believes in a conspiracy.
Meanwhile, Odenthal realizes that her aunt Niki might have something to do with the case. She conceals this suspicion from her colleague Stern, but it doesn’t take long for the analyst to make the connection on her own and dive into the darkest chapter of German history…
