ON VIDEO: Police camera shows arrest of rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine in Palm Beach

Body camera video released by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBCSO) shows the moment rapper 6ix9ine, also known as Tekashi69, was arrested for failing to appear in court to answer charges stemming from a traffic violation.

The arrest occurred on Wednesday, August 9, according to the PBCSO report. Daniel Hernández, the real name of Tekashi, was accompanied by the Dominican rapper Yailín La Más Viral.

The video shows the moment when Hernández was asked to get out of the vehicle he was driving, before being handcuffed.

When the rapper asked why he was being arrested, officers told him there was an active warrant for his failure to appear in court for three traffic violations.

“I didn’t know that,” said Hernandez, who in the video appears to be cooperating with the agents.

Records show that Hernandez, 27, who resides in Casselberry, near Orlando, received a citation June 11 shortly after 2 a.m. on the Florida Turnpike south of Boynton Beach. The subpoena said Hernandez had no registration for his vehicle.

According to the report, Hernández was released after posting bail.

Authorities said Hernandez was pulled over in June for going 135 mph in a 65 mph speed zone.

This latest arrest comes months after a brutal beating at a South Florida gym landed the rapper in the hospital.

Hernandez was hospitalized after being attacked in an LA Fitness sauna on March 21, according to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.
