The fatality is a 25-year-old man residing in the city of Alkmaar (very close to Den Helder), who died overnight due to gunshot wounds, after being taken to hospital.

The alleged attacker fled after the shooting and is still missing, although the police know who he is and have released his physical description to ask citizen collaboration.

They warned that the suspect may still be armed and that he is a “dangerous” individual, about 1.75 meters tall, fair skin, shaved hair, a bushy beard and that he was dressed in a tracksuit.

The police affirmed that they have opened an investigation to clarify the events, which took place around midnight, and that they have already questioned several witnesses who were in the place, attended at that time due to the proximity to a bar.

The security forces cordoned off the area of ​​the shooting, located on an avenue in Den Helder next to a canal, in order, at first, to provide assistance to the victims and, later, to secure any traces and evidence, including They found several bullet casings.

Two helicopters from the medical services and one from the police participated in the deployment of troops, according to the local press.

Initially, the police only reported the existence of two injuries (one of whom was the man who ended up dying), but a few hours later they added another injury to the balance of the shooting.
