One dead in car-to-car shooting on highway in Diamond Bar

Authorities are investigating the death of a person following a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting at Diamond Bar early Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at about 1 am near the intersection of the westbound Highway 60 and southbound Highway 57 in Diamond Bar, authorities said.

Several people called 911 to report this shooting. Witness reports describe the car from which the shooting occurred as an SUV, likely a Durango or Jeep type, investigators said.

According to authorities, the driver of the vehicle drove to Costa Mesa and stopped near the intersection of Church and Walnut streets, where they were found by officers from the city’s police department, according to authorities.

Three people were traveling in the vehicle. One of the passengers died at the scene while the driver and the second passenger were injured.

Another car was hit by gunfire at Diamond Bar, but no one was injured.

The CHP closed the freeway interchange for several hours to investigate the shooting.
