FFront of the Teatro do Noroeste — Centro Dramático de Viana, contacted today by the Lusa agency, explained the creation, called Rádio ATIVASénior, was developed under the ATIVASénior project — theater with seniors in Alto Minho.
In total, the presentation involves 100 people, aged 65 or over, residing in the ten municipalities of the district of Viana do Castelo and five creators from the theatrical area.
Divided into groups of 10, the 100 “seniors” worked on “memories and experiences, personal and collective, the material and immaterial heritage of each of the ten municipalities of Alto Minho where they reside”.
On Wednesday, at 3 pm, at Teatro Diogo Bernardes, in Ponte de Lima, everyone will come together on stage to present ‘performances’ lasting about 10 minutes.
“It’s like a theater show. It has scenery with elements alluding to a radio studio, there are costumes, but it’s not made by professionals”, said the source.
Started in 2021, the Rádio ATIVASénior project brings together more than 100 participants from Arcos do Valdevez, Caminha, Melgaço, Monção, Paredes de Coura, Ponte da Barca, Ponte de Lima, Valença, Viana do Castelo and Vila Nova de Cerveira.
Liliana Barbosa, Nelma Nunes, Nuno J. Loureiro, Philippe Leroux and Sílvia Barbosa are the creators of the theatrical area involved in guiding the performative exercise that aims to “qualify the lives of seniors through art”.
The creator Liliana Barbosa directed the groups of Viana do Castelo and Paredes de Coura, Nelma Nunes those of Caminha and Valença, Nuno Loureiro of Arcos de Valdevez and Ponte de Lima, Philippe Leroux with Melgaço and Vila Nova de Cerveira and Sílvia Barbosa, with Monção and Ponte da Barca.
This initiative is part of the Teatro do Noroeste Community Project — Centro Dramático de Viana, financed by Norte2020, Portugal2020 and the European Social Fund, under the Culture for All program, managed by the Intermunicipal Community (CIM) of Alto Minho.
