OPPO A78 5G is announced with 90 Hz screen, 50 MP camera and MediaTek Dimensity 700

OPPO announced this Monday (09) the A78 5G, its new cell phone that boasts a revamped look for the mid-range line and specifications that should ensure its highlight in terms of cost and benefit. Interestingly, the model has a technical sheet identical to the OPPO A58, which debuted on the Chinese market in November 2022.

This means that the smartphone is equipped with a 6.56-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ resolution (1,612 x 720 pixels), 90 Hz refresh rate and 600 nits peak brightness. There is a drop-shaped notch that houses its 8 MP front camera.

At the rear, there is a dual set of cameras represented by the main 50 MP sensor with f/1.8 lens aperture. The secondary unit is just a monochrome camera that optimizes image captures with a “black and white” effect with an infrared sensor and an f/2.4 lens aperture. The main lens is capable of recording videos at up to Full HD @ 30 FPS.

OPPO A78 5G is equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 700, a platform that has become a favorite among cheap 5G phones. It should be remembered that the OPPO A77 5G, its predecessor, is equipped with Dimensity 810 — a faster processor and updated lithography.

The new model works with the single memory option with 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Through the RAM Expansion feature, the operating system can allocate up to 8 GB of internal space to use as virtual memoryimproving cell phone performance in multitasking.

To power the hardware, the device has a 5,000 mAh battery with support for fast charging with a power of 33W. Other specs include Bluetooth 5.3 LE connectivity, Wi-Fi 5, NFC and a fingerprint reader integrated into the power button. The phone will come out of the box running ColorOS 13 based on Android 13.

The OPPO A78 5G will initially be launched in Malaysia, and for now, there is no forecast of availability in other countries. There are two color options: black and purple. Suggested price has not yet been announced.but it is worth remembering that the A77 5G reached the Thai market for 9,999 baht, that is, about R$ 1,589 (disregarding taxes).
