three weeks after wildfires will devastate Maui, the teams are almost done searching for the victims.

Until now, at least 115 people have been confirmed dead in the fire, that destroyed the historic coastal community of Lahaina. However, there are still over 100 missing person reports filed with Maui police.

After the fires, many people lost their homes, so Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Johnson teamed up to create a $10 million fund to help them.

Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Johnson announced the creation of the Maui People’s Fund, a fund that will provide direct payments to those affected by the recent wildfires.

“As we have seen firsthand, the impacts of these wildfires have been devastating and we are here to ensure with a 100% guarantee that your donations will go directly into the hands of Lahaina residents.” shared both stars on Instagram.

We are honored to kick off this campaign with $10 million. and ask for your help in donating to those who have lost their homes. We thank you in advance for your contribution.” they added.

As shared by Oprah and ‘The Rock,’ every adult resident who lives in the affected area and was displaced by the wildfires in Lahaina and Kula is eligible for receive $1,200 per month to help them through this recovery period.

To receive financial aid, they must go to PeoplesFundofMaui.org to submit your application. Affected individuals must show a government ID and a utility bill in their name for a lost or uninhabitable residence

Both were inspired by a similar background created by Dolly Parton after wildfires ripped through Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in December 2016, killing 14 people and destroying 2,400 structures.

In accordance with Associated PressJeff Conyers, president of the Dollywood Foundation, said he’s consulted with Winfrey’s team several times in recent weeks to share the lessons they’ve learned managing the fund, which ultimately awarded $11 million to families who had lost their homes.
