Juarez City.- Alina García became interested in creating organic pots as a way to generate income; Her taste for her plants prompted her to do her own business for three years.

Like her, 70 entrepreneurs participated in the 1st Grand Art Bazaar, which was organized yesterday in the Plaza de la Mexicanidad.

“I am a plant lover and I was looking for something to perform and generate income and I liked this Kokedama technique to generate income. Kokedama in Japanese means ball of moss, it is an organic pot that is irrigated or submerged in water to take care of it. I use this Japanese artisan technique but made with Mexican hands, I like it a lot and it has worked for me”, explained García.

He explained that it uses organic fertilized soil so that the plant has its nutrients, moss is used to cover its roots, it is reinforced with macramé rope and it is placed on a wooden base.

Garcia offered pots of succulents, brazil sticks, abundance trees, Moses’ cradle, Juliets, and other plant species.

Modules of traditional Mexican clothing, accessories, natural cosmetics, plants, food and drinks, among other products, were installed in the bazaar.

Among the activities that were carried out, there was also the participation of the group Jóvenes en Armonía, of the Social and Educational Care Centers for Families (Casef), of the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF).

During the bazaar, the painting exhibition “Viva la Mujer en el Arte” was held, also organized by the Mujeres Visionarias Juárez association, which included the participation of 48 paintings created by border women, said Luz María Sotelo, president of the organization.

“Art is a way of expressing all our feelings and emotions, we once wanted to try to do this… but we didn’t want to do just an exhibition, since it’s about women, we invite women entrepreneurs or those who have businesses,” Sotelo said.

The call was launched in February, but the awards ceremony for the three winners was yesterday, at 5:00 in the afternoon.

“I think it’s very good that they do this kind of bazaars, not only because Mother’s Day is getting closer, but because they give women an opportunity to start a business, and at the same time meet some painters from the border,” Ramona said. Garcia, a visitor to the bazaar.
