From the punk festival to the Schlager party: These big events are planned in Bottrop this year. Some tickets are already available.

In 2022, many events and parties that had previously been canceled due to the corona virus were possible again. This can continue in 2023! We have put together an initial overview of the major events planned for Bottrop this year. Pull out your diary – there should be something for every taste in culture, music and partying.

The year begins in the classic way with the organ festival

The year begins: classic! Namely with the now 35th Organ Plus Festival in the first week of January. The finale will be on January 8, 4 p.m. in the Heilig Kreuz cultural church: organ plus waltz with Markus Menke (violin), Jürgen Kuns (organ and piano) and Ludger Morck (organ and harmonium). The city anniversary revue “Fool’s Gold” is coming back in a new guise

the Revue “Fool’s Gold” delighted in the anniversary year when Bottrop celebrated its 100th birthday. That was in 2019, and a new edition is planned for this spring: the in-house production by artists from Bottrop, directed by Tanja Brügger, is dated 2nd to 5th March (each at 7.30 p.m.) again in the atrium of the vocational college. The background story has remained the same: cabaret artist Benjamin Eisenberg gives the officials from the citizens’ office, who checks Nito Torres, who has moved to Bottrop, for his suitability. What should be new this year: more pressure in the music, a guitar solo and the ensemble of the Zurhausen Ballet School. The festival Live on Stage celebrates its premiere in Bottrop

Schlager fans are of course also at the Summer beach party in the Stenkhoffbad correct. It’s planned for August 19th (Admission 2.30 p.m., Stenkhoffstraße 135). In the urban row “City Flicker”which is in its third year, are dated August 11th to September 3rd in the Kulturhof A wide variety of events are planned at the August Everding Cultural Center, from the Bottrop Band Contest to the open-air cinema. In addition, on the weekend August 18-20 the “city flickering” on the Berlin Square guest. The plan is for the Westfälisches Landestheater to show the rock revue “Elektrolurch im Sonderzug” there twice, followed by the children’s theater play “Der Kleine Vampire”. Festival for all fans of puppet theater

They are now aimed at both young and adult visitors 17th Bottrop Puppet Theater Days in September. The popular festival takes place every two years, this year there are public performances as well as daycare and school events from September 9th to 22nd planned. One of the highlights is the Long night of puppet theater on September 16, 7.30 p.m., in the Chamber Concert Hall. Two pieces will then be performed: “A rattensharp solo” (Figurentheater Fritzsche/Dresden) and “Grand Hotel Grimm – the Berlin Town Musicians V” (Theater Zitadelle Berlin) – including a buffet. Three more evening productions for adults and two free family events on Saturdays in the city center are part of the program.

Finally again: Schützen and Brezelfest in Kirchhellen

And otherwise? still belong the horse market in spring (May 7th) that summer town festival (probably June 2nd to 4th; will be re-advertised according to the cultural office), der Michaelmas market in autumn (September 23-24) and the Nicholas market in winter (December 9th/10th) to the Bottrop series of events.

It should already be certain that the whole of Kirchhellen will be upside down in September 2023. Due to the corona, the Schützenfest and Brezelfest, which are celebrated in the village every three years, recently had to be cancelled. Which means: Since 2017, the people of Kirchhellen and their guests have been waiting for the next big party. The festival marathon traditionally begins with the Schützenfest from September 2nd to 4th on the Josef-Terwellen-Platz. Immediately followed by Pretzel Festival on September 5th.
