This week Sony offered a selection of gamers the opportunity to download the new PlayStation 5 Firmware Beta. The Italian community was not involved in the initiative, however we were able to find out what new things Sony and which we can expect in future public firmwares.
Officially confirmed fixes include Discord voice chat integration, library improvements, easier PS4 to PS5 data transfer, new “Join Game” icon in party chats, and extended support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to 1440p resolution screens… but apparently there’s more to it.
Players who have already had the opportunity to test the Firmware Beta have noticed that the Japanese company has also silently resolved the problems of screen flickering that occur when using VRR on 120Hz IPS monitors (or higher), due to the physical limits of the aforementioned panels. The graphical glitch has completely disappeared from the games that suffered from it, such as The Last of Us Part I and Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, but they are the only ones. Below you will find the list of titles in which the defect occurred and which should now finally work properly. It was drafted the official support of Gigabytemanufacturers of monitors such as AORUS FI32U, Gigabyte M32U and Gigabyte M28U all affected by the problem.

On Reddit there are many players who confirm the resolution of flickering in the aforementioned games, but there may be others. If you are among those experiencing the graphics problem, all you have to do is wait for the launch of the new PlayStation 5 firmware in the public segment. Usually, a few weeks pass from the publication of a Beta to the actual availability for everyone.
