Passengers stranded in Miami and the Dominican Republic after the delay of charter flights

For the second day in a row, dozens of travelers continue to wait all day for answers at the Miami International Airport when they should leave on a charter flight operated by World Atlantic bound for Punta Cana, where a dream vacation awaits them.

The wheels of the suitcases continued to sound for many families on Sunday night, after two days at the Miami Airport and their attempt to vacation in Punta Cana, turned into an odyssey.

Dayana Jiménez, a traveler affected by these delays, says that she planned rest days with her mother who lives in Cuba because they haven’t seen each other for 5 years and now the wait has been longer.

Like her, there are at least 150 travelers who bought their tickets to the Dominican Republic with the PunCana.Com travel agency, while another 180 people are still waiting to be picked up on the island.

The problem, according to the president of the PunCana.Com company, Jacqueline Ojeda, has been happening recurrently with charter flights.

However, there are more passengers who have also been affected this weekend, dozens who booked their flights with the Yes Travel Agency and a company that had subcontracted to the airline Air Century. This Saturday they had seven cancellations between arrivals and departures.

The truth is that this situation worries travelers who continue with the hope of not losing their vacations.

One plane that needed a part is an Air Bus A320 which the federal aviation administration says they have a rigid protocol to control the operation of charter planes but did not confine whether Sky Cana or World Atlantic are being investigated.
