Pro-Palestinian protests continue and 27 people are arrested

Pro-Palestinian protests throughout the city continued Monday night.

At least 27 people were arrested in a gathering that began at Hunter College and eventually headed toward the Met Gala.

The protest coincided with a citywide call for a “Day of Rage for Gaza.”

Hunter College is on 68th Street, approximately ten blocks from the Metropolitan Museum, where the gala was being held.

NY1 witnessed arrests at 79th Street and Fifth Avenue.

The demands of this protest are similar to others: they want CUNY universities to cancel their financial interests with Israel.

Protestants claim that money from various institutions finances what they call a genocide against the Palestinian people.
