The story is peppered with more and less successful adaptations from games to TV or film. And now that The Last of Us has managed to charm both game experts and those who are primarily looking for a good story, there are presumably many potential projects that can be drawn up.

Obviously, the comedians in Saturday Night Live have also noticed, and at the weekend presented a strong parody of what a TV series based on Mario Kart – but with the gloomy tone of The Last of Us – could look like.

As this week’s guest, it is precisely The Last of Us’ lead actor Pedro Pascal who becomes Mario, and who gives what is probably the most darkly comic interpretation of the plumber to date.

Meanwhile, The Last of Us continues its winning streak on HBO, having been praised by critics – including us at Gamer.no. The series’ fourth episode was shown on the night of Monday, while the remaining five will appear every week in the future. The series has already been greenlit for a sequel season, but we don’t yet know when it will arrive.

Mario, on the other hand, has his own animated film on the way, which will be released on April 7 this year. It is being developed by Minions and Despicable Me company Illumination Entertainment in collaboration with Nintendo, with Mario dad Shigeru Miyamoto as one of the producers.
